Declan Rice’s decision to play for England must be respected, says Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has urged individuals to honor Declan Rice’s decision to change allegiance in the Republic of Ireland.
His decision contributed to threats against him and his loved ones at some vitriolic online misuse has been revealed by the Hammers midfielder.
The 20-year-old proceeded to create three senior looks, although not in matches, before announcing his intention to change at the start of the year and represented the team.
Rice won a cap to England at the 5-3 win over Kosovo in St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday in their European Qualifier and has established himself in the strategies of Gareth Southgate, with Pellegrini insisting it is time to move on.
“I believe Declan postponed his decision and had a think and a talk with the people important for him I really don’t have any doubt that it had been the ideal choice Declan took for his life” Pellegrini said ahead of West Ham’s game with Aston Villa – reside Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.
“Obviously, not everyone is happy, but everybody must honor him for that and he should not give them too much importance as it doesn’t matter what other people think.”
Meanwhile, the Pellegrini reported no fresh injury concerns following the break and confirmed winger Michail Antonio has undergone operation on a problem he endured at Newport.
“I expect that the operation went well. The physicians are happy and now he wants time to recover,” Pellegrini added.
“I only spoke with him he is with no pain, so that everything is moving in the appropriate manner”
